  • Expo 99 This is a tour in the world-famous floral exposition in Kunming. Each province, and many countries, are represented here by small, richly organized gardens.
  • Xi Shan mountains These are the mountains surrounding Kunming. Their name means "Western Mountains". They are covered with buddhist and taoist temples.
  • Li Jiang This city is located in the north-western part of Yunnan province. The scenery is breathstaking, as this was once part of Tibet. Lijiang is home of the Naxi ethnic minority, whose traditionnal clothing and architecture can be seen here.
  • Da Li This small touristic town located besides the Er Hai lake has recently seen a very fast growth. It is home of the Bai ethnic minority.
  • The Stone Forest A long, long time ago, this place was immersed under the sea. Sedimentary stone formed there. When the sea retreated, erosion formed those spectacular shapes, over an area of over 8 Hectares.
  • The ethnic minorities' park Yunnan province is home of 26 ethnic minorities, more than any other chinese province. 8% of the population comes from an ethnic minority.
This parc is a touristic installation which tries to display the variety of those minorities' culture. Each area represents a minority, with typical housing, cloth, and elements of folk culture.
  • Vietnam As Yunnan is right north of Vietnam, I was lucky enough to go on a tour there with a few friends, for a little under 2 weeks. We first went to Hanoi and Halong Bay, then we headed south to the imperial city of Hue, in the center of Vietnam.
  • Xichuangbanna Xichuangbanna is a subtropical region located in the S-W area of Yunnan province, next to Burma. Here, the main ethnic minority is Dai, as in Burma. It has its own language and writing (which are those of Burma).
  • In the Country I was offered a chance to go visit a family of peasans in the countryside for a week-end, near Kunming. A nearby place also exposed dinosaurians skeletons found in this archeological place.
  • Food Everybody should now know that the Chinese make very fine, exquisite food (especially in the south of China). Here, I will wet your appetite with a few pictures of Yunnan and Vietnam dishes, and local fruits and ingredients. You will also learn how to make Jiao zi.
  • Kunming This site would not be complete without a few pictures of the street life of Kunming, the capital city of Yunnan province.
  • The caves of Kunming 75 Km south of Kunming are very rich and beautiful caves. Some have been opened to the public.
  • Chine 2000, album photo commenté de mon voyage au Yunnan.
